Zomato launches AI chatbot to enhance food ordering experience

Zomato AI is an interactive chatbot that will assist customers in placing their orders.

Zomato, the renowned restaurant aggregator and food delivery giant based in India, is pioneering a transformative approach to food ordering with the launch of its latest innovation: Zomato AI, an AI-powered chatbot.

In a recent blog post, Zomato unveiled this intuitive and interactive “foodie” chatbot designed to provide unparalleled assistance in placing food orders. This cutting-edge feature is initially available exclusively to Zomato’s Gold Members, its subscription-based customers.

Zomato AI operates on a sophisticated multiple-agent framework, equipping the chatbot with a diverse range of prompts to address various tasks seamlessly. The company highlighted that one key development is the creation of numerous functions accessible to the AI agents within the Zomato ecosystem. This capability enables AI agents to dynamically access the required data to efficiently serve customer queries.

The technology underpinning Zomato AI is an in-house creation that seamlessly links multiple prompts and functions, ensuring an uninterrupted conversation with the chatbot. This advanced technology not only supports real-time interactions but also enhances the overall customer experience, akin to a fluid text-based conversation.

Customers can engage in back-and-forth messaging with Zomato AI, receiving real-time responses to their inquiries. The chatbot’s capabilities extend to addressing complex questions like “What should I eat when I’m hungover?” or “Can I find something high in protein and low in carbs?”.

In essence, Zomato AI aims to be the ultimate foodie companion, guiding users to discover the perfect dish to satiate their cravings while browsing Zomato with a rumbling stomach.

Zomato’s introduction of the AI chatbot comes on the heels of Swiggy, India’s online food ordering and delivery platform, revealing its plans to launch an AI-based neural search feature for food ordering. The competition in the food tech industry is heating up as these companies leverage AI to enhance the user experience and cater to the evolving needs of their customers.

As Zomato continues to innovate and redefine the food delivery landscape, Zomato AI is poised to be a game-changer, simplifying the food ordering process and making it more enjoyable and efficient for users.
