Talabat, the prominent platform for everyday deliveries in the MENA region, has launched a new innovation called “talabat AI.” This ChatGPT-powered artificial intelligence (AI) grocery shopping assistant aims to enhance customers’ grocery shopping experience by simplifying the process through generative AI technology. talabat AI allows customers ordering on “talabat Mart” to search for recipes and simultaneously identify available ingredients, nutritional information, and cooking tips.
The new feature is part of the tech company’s vision to improve customer experience through innovative solutions. Yi-Wei Ang, Chief Product Officer at talabat, said, “We are thrilled to be the first in everyday delivery in the MENA region to integrate this capability into our app, as part of our vision to simplify everyday life through innovative solutions.” The feature resulted from a recent hackathon held at talabat Tech HQ in the UAE, which boasts over 450 product and tech engineers.
Starting next week, “talabat pro” subscribers in the UAE using the English version of the app will be the first to enjoy the Beta version of “talabat AI.” The innovative solution will subsequently roll out to “talabat pro” subscribers in Kuwait and other markets. talabat users not subscribed to “talabat pro” can try out “talabat AI” by signing up for the free 14-day “talabat pro” trial.
Once customers submit their requests through the chat, the grocery shopping assistant will provide all the necessary cooking steps, as well as available ingredients from the nearest talabat Mart store, to help execute their searched dish. Users can also ask “talabat AI” for cooking tips, suitable complimentary dishes, and nutritional information. For instance, customers can ask “talabat AI” about healthy salad recipes, protein-based dishes with chicken and eggs, ingredients needed for homemade falafel, or the side dish that complements chicken biryani.
