This collaboration marks a pivotal stride in accelerating India’s transition towards electric-powered hyperlocal fleets. Gogoro’s commitment to fostering electric mobility, in conjunction with the efforts of India’s national and city governments, finds a strong ally in Swiggy, a major player in the industry. The partnership aims to introduce Gogoro Smartscooters and battery swapping to catalyze the transformation of India’s urban fleets into electric ones.
Horace Luke, the Founder and CEO of Gogoro, emphasized the importance of this alliance, stating, “Collaborating with Swiggy, a leading player in the industry, to provide access to Gogoro Smartscooters and battery swapping is essential in successfully transforming India’s urban fleets to electric. Mihir Shah, Head of Operations at Swiggy, echoed the sentiment, underlining the significance of this partnership in realizing their commitment to greener and cost-effective solutions for their delivery fleet. “Gogoro’s battery swapping technology represents a new generation of electric refueling that has proven successful on a mass scale for last-mile delivery, and we look forward to working with them to transform hyperlocal deliveries to be more sustainable and efficient in India,” Shah added.
Notably, Swiggy had previously announced its ambitious goal of covering a staggering 8 lakh kilometers every day through electric vehicle (EV) deliveries in 2021. Their continued dedication to sustainable transportation has led to strategic alliances with industry leaders, including Reliance BP Mobility Limited and Hero Lectro. These collaborations have enabled delivery partners to achieve significant cost savings and have a positive impact on their earnings by adopting electric vehicles for last-mile delivery.
