Getir reaches milestone with one million charity meal donations.

Getir, the Istanbul-based delivery platform, has achieved an incredible milestone by donating more than one million meals to local charities through its gstores, in partnership with the giving platform Neighbourly.

The charitable initiative aims to support households in the UK that are struggling to make ends meet amid the cost-of-living crisis. As per a recent report by The Bank of England, one in seven people in the UK has skipped a meal. Getir has been working with Neighbourly since April 2021, and this partnership has been highly successful in addressing the increasing demand and pressure on charities.

This recent achievement follows the successful accomplishment of Getir and Neighbourly reaching 500,000 meal donations in November 2022. Since the beginning of the partnership, Getir has given away 422 tonnes of food, saving 1,520 tonnes of CO2 emissions and making an overall financial impact of over £1.8 million.

Chris Chaaya, General Manager of Getir UK, said: “In light of the ongoing challenges families face with the rising cost of living, we are more committed than ever to providing assistance to those in need. We’re proud to have reached this incredible milestone, and we will continue working with Neighbourly and local communities to show our dedication to supporting them. As a company, we strive to be active and valuable in the areas we serve.”

Steve Butterworth, CEO of Neighbourly, added that charities are facing “growing demand and increasing pressure.” He added that this scheme is providing much-needed support to hard-working organizations and the families they support.

Getir is a leading global technology platform that provides instant grocery delivery in as little as 10 minutes. Since launching in the UK in January 2021, the company has expanded across London, Birmingham, and Manchester, providing quick and efficient delivery services to its customers. Getir’s mission is to create an easier and more comfortable life for everyone by making day-to-day needs more accessible through its instant delivery platform.

This impressive charitable initiative highlights Getir’s commitment to supporting local communities and its dedication to addressing food poverty in the UK. The company’s donation efforts are an excellent example of how businesses can make a positive impact on society by using their resources and influence to tackle important issues.
